Book of the Later Han Dynasty
(Note by Tang Zhanghuai, Prince Li Xian)Later Han Books: Ji and Lie Biography were written by Fan Ye of the Southern Song Dynasty, and the Chronicles were supplemented by the Southern Dynasty Liang Liu Zhao and Sima Biao Xu Han Shu. 120 volumes, divided into 10 books, 30 chronicles, and 80 biographies. As soon as the Fan Book came out, it surpassed the history books of the Later Han Dynasty, and together with the Historical Records, the Han Book, and the Three Kingdoms, it was called the "First Four History". Among them, the establishment of the Wenyuan Biography has set a good precedent for historical books to attach importance to literary activities.
Fan Ye (AD 398~445) is the name of Weizong. A native of Song Shunyang (now southeast of Xichuan County, Henan Province) in the Southern Dynasty. Good is a text, can be a book, Xiaoyin law. Started as a scribe and minister, moved to the left Xuancheng too guarded, and was not willing. Later, he conspired against Kong Xi of Lu State and ambushed him. Sima Biao, the word Shaotong, the eldest son of Sima Mu, the king of Gaoyang in Jin, was studious since he was a child. Sima Biao in view of the Han Zhongxing, loyal ministers and righteous people are famous, and there is no good history, the description is complicated, so "discuss the books, embellished what they have heard, from the ancestors, and finally filial piety, the chronicle of two hundred, the record of the world twelve, through the top and bottom, side through the affairs, for the chronicle, chronicles, biography of eighty articles, called "Continuation of the Han Book". As soon as Fan Ye's "Book of the Later Han" came out, Sima Biao's "Book of the Continuation of the Han Dynasty" was gradually eliminated, but only the Eight Zhi were retained because of the addition of the Fan Book.
