Northern History
Northern History, written by Li Yanshou of the Tang Dynasty. Ji biography, a total of 100 volumes, including 12 volumes of this book, 88 volumes, starting from the first year of the Northern Wei Dynasty (386) to the second year of Sui Yining (618), recording the Northern Wei Dynasty, the Western Wei, the Eastern Wei, the Northern Zhou, the Northern Qi and the Sui Six Dynasties 233 years of history. The history of the south and the north is the work of Li Yanshou, a historian in the early Tang Dynasty, and the history of the north is mainly edited and adapted on the basis of the four books of Wei, Qi, Zhou and Sui, and refers to various miscellaneous histories. He wrote these two books in order to "follow the last aspirations" and to carry on the unfinished work of his father, Master Li (570-628).
Li Yanshou said in the preface to the Northern History: "Since then, in addition to the official history of the eight dynasties, more miscellaneous histories have been investigated, and more than 1,000 volumes that are not found in the official history have been compiled. "The content of the Northern History is much better than that of the Southern History, this is because Master Li, Li Yanshou and his son are all northerners, so they are more familiar with the history, history, customs, and human feelings of the Northern Dynasties. "In the third year of Changqing of Tang Muzong (823), the southern history and northern history were listed as one of the scientific expedition items. Since there are two histories of the north and south, the Book of Song, the Book of Southern Qi, the Book of Wei, the Book of Liang, the Book of Chen, the Book of Northern Qi, the Book of Zhou, and the Book of Sui are called the Eight Books, and the history is called the "Eight Books of the Second History".
